On the 18th of January I photographed my first wedding for 2020. It was also my first same sex wedding WOOO! I had the pleasure of photographing Sharon and Jo’s wedding day. What a story they have together. I have known the amazing couple since my first year of playing Senior footy, Sharon had the absolute pleasure of being my coach.

What an absolutely amazing wedding day these two shared. They decided to have a commitment ceremony, an affirmation as it was called, which is just like a wedding. That happened on 19 Jan 2001. Sharon and Jo both agreed at the time, if it ever became legal, that they would get married!

That day came around and they got married on the 18th of January 2020. 19 years later they tied the knot at Glen Erin at Lancefield, Vineyard.

The day started with both of these ladies getting ready at the gorgeous cottage at Glen Erin. This is where I started and shared so many laughs with the two of them including how much older Mikayla their daughter now looks since I seen her at least 6 years ago. Sharon dealt with her nerves by laughing her way through the morning, where as Jo, (is not an emotional person at all) shed a few tears in the morning and I have to say so did I.

Both brides walked down the isle, where every single guest was shocked to see both of them in dresses (as was I) but they looked so amazing. The ceremony was filled with so much laughter and different facial expressions it was crazy. Jo even got through her vows without needing her glasses because the font size was massive LOL!

Whisking them off for their photo session in the vineyard was so much fun with the two of them. Jokes were cracked the whole time, including some secrets that Sharon had put into their “get to know you questionnaire” that i brought up during this time! This session was a true celebration for the love they had for one another.

Reception definitely meant party time for these too that’s for sure. They both knew how to rock that dance floor especially to “Livin on a Prayer” (lets be honest that gets everyone going). I don’t think I have ever seen this many people on a dance floor but all of their guests where definitely keen for a boogie or two!

Thanks so much to Sharon and Jo have me photograph your amazing day. A Massive shout out to Emma from Aurora Joy Photography for helping me photograph this amazing wedding after I had received some family news earlier that morning.
